The final major battle of the War of 1812 was The Battle of New Orleans, which was fought from the 8th to the 18th of January 1815, because the news of a Christmas Eve 1814 peace agreement did not reach America until February 1815.​​

BRASHEAR, SAMPSON (1788 - 1878), WAR OF 1812.
HOMETOWN:  Perry County, Kentucky.
OTHER RESIDENCE:  Sullivan County, North Carolina. 
DATE OF BIRTH:  21 December, 1788, Sullivan County, North Carolina (now Tennessee).
PARENTS: Margaret Eakin and Samuel Brashear, who served in the American Revolutionary War and Indian Hostilities.
SPOUSE:  Margaret “Peggy” Bright.
SONS:  Isaac, Ezekial, Harvey G., Jesse C., William Rutledge and Hezekiah served in the 13th Kentucky Cavalry, Confederate States Army, American Civil War.
ENLISTMENT DATE:  13 November 1814; Discharged 18 May 1815.
COMBAT ORGANIZATION:  Captain James Landen’s Company, Fifth Regiment, Tennessee militia.
MILITARY PENSION GRANTED.
DATE OF DEATH:  1 October 1878. 
PLACE OF DEATH:  Perry County, Kentucky.
CEMETERY:  Cornett Cemetery, Perry County, Kentucky.

SPOUSE:  Elizabeth Cornett, daughter of Rhoda Gilliam and William Jesse Cornett, a Veteran of the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. 
ENLISTMENT DATE:  27 August 1812.
COMBAT ORGANIZATION:  Captain William Brown’s Company, Kentucky Militia.
DISCHARGE DATE:  13 March 1813.

CORNETT, WILLIAM JESSE ‘BILLY’ (1761-1836), AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR AND THE BATTLE OF HORSESHOE BEND AND THE BATTLE OF NEW ORLEANS IN THE WAR OF 1812.                                        HOMETOWN:  Cornettsville, Perry County, Kentucky.

DATE OF BIRTH:  April 1761 in Virginia.
PARENTS:  Elizabeth Bacon and John Canute Cornett.

~1779:  American Revolutionary War Soldier, Served 6 months in Captain Winston’s Company and Colonel Scripps Virginia Regiment.
~1780:  Reenlisted in Captain Saunders Company, Colonel Patterson’s Virginia Regiment.

MILITARY PENSION APPLICATION:  12 August 1833.
DATE OF DEATH:  26 November 1836.
PLACE OF DEATH:  Perry County, Kentucky.
CEMETERY:  Cornett Cemetery, Cornettsville, Perry County, Kentucky.
MILITARY TOMBSTONE APPLICATION FORM:  On 23 January 1931 J. D. Cornett, great-grandson of William Cornett, signed the application form to receive a military tombstone for William Cornett, American Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Soldier, nearly 95 years after William’s death.
